Laser Gummy Smile Reduction - Instant Orthodontics

In the photo of this clinical case, you can see that gummy smile has been almost eliminated. Usually, the more the gum is showing when smiling, the more the smile is unpleasant. The gummy smile elimination can be done by gum reduction using lasers. When we use laser for gum reduction, we reduce also the bone underneath. Reducing the bone under the gingivae(gum) will ensure that we will have very long term results ad stability over time, if the bone is not removed when indicated and needed, the gum will tend to regain its initial levels in a couple of months. With the laser, the gum and the bone are removed very easily, without a "surgery" requiring opening the gum, without the need of any stitches and of course without any bleeding. The post operative discomfort is minimal. When we are not opening the gum, there will be no risk of bacterial infection, also the laser will kill all the bacteria while working, this is why the patient will not take any antibiotics.
After the gummy smile has been reduced, and as the healing is very fast when using lasers, impression were taken only one week after the "surgery". These impressions are for instant orthodontics procedure using dental veneers. We can use the dental veneers for the correction of the alignment of the teeth, in cases where we have already a good and stable occlusion.
One week later, the dental veneers for instant orthodontics has been placed. These veneers will change the color, the shape and the alignment of the teeth. The results are permanent.
